Woollybutt hits 41,000 bbls per day

The partners of the Woollybutt Oil Field may well feel that the monkey is off their back as the field is currently producing at around 41,000 bbls per day.

After a series of setbacks due to tug damage and cyclone Inigo, an uninterrupted work cycle has averaged around 40,000 bbls per day for the last 14 days, producing in excess of one million bbls of oil since production began a little over one month ago.

Two liftings have been successfully completed, on 17 May and 31 May respectively, for a total of around 900,000 bbls of oil. The venture partners expect the field will maintain the present production rates with the natural production decline dependent on the size of the field. This will be determined by well deliverability over the next few months.

Located 50km southwest of Barrow Island and 42km northeast of the Griffin oil field, the FPSO 'Four Vanguard' is operating two wells in the field, Woollybutt-2AST3 and Woollybutt-1ST1, with an estimated proven and probable recoverable reserves around 25 million barrels.
