Third Padre Island discovery goes into production: Novus

Sydney-based Novus Petroleum and its partners have announced their third Padre Island gas discove...

"We are encouraged by what have learnt from the data collected at the three gas discoveries and we continue to be encouraged by the prospectivity of Padre Island," said manager of corporate development at Novus, Toru Matsui. The initial production rate is expected to be around 3 mmcfd.

The participants in the West Bird-1 well are Novus 40%, BNP Petroleum Corporation 30% - operator, Mitsui Oil Exploration Company 20% and Golden Gate Resources 10%.

West Bird will join La Playa and Tomato wells, which already contributing to revenue with a combined rate of 3.5 million cubic feet of gas per day (mmcfd).
