The two additional platforms have boosted production from the field by 40 percent. Gross production is now averaging 65,000 barrels of oil per day, which is full capacity.
ConocoPhillips holds a working interest of 36 percent in Block 15-2. Other partners are Japan Vietnam Petroleum Co Ltd (46.5 percent, operator) and PetroVietnam.
ConocoPhillips owns interests in six blocks offshore Vietnam, with a total of nearly 6 million gross acres, which is currently the largest acreage position of any foreign energy company in Vietnam.
The company's portfolio includes offshore acreage in Blocks 15-1, 15-2, 16-2, 5-3, 133 and 134, as well as an interest in the Nam Con Son gas pipeline.
The field originally contained one well head and an FPSO. The brief was to design the two newly-installed wellheads and then by October 2003, have two further platforms on the field which will provide accommodation and additional utilities.
