Hydrocarbons seen within the Toro interval are below those seen in other parts of the Moran field, thereby potentially extending the lowest known oil in the Toro reservoir for the field.
A potential oil water contact has been intersected in the Digimu reservoir, which broadly corresponds with that seen elsewhere in Moran.
Pressure data will be acquired, as part of the forward logging program, to constrain hydrocarbon water contacts and provide information on reservoir connectivity with the rest of the Moran field.
Structural information will also be acquired, through dip meter logging, to constrain the configuration of the hydrocarbon reservoirs in this part of the field.
This data can then be used to confirm additional oil reserves north west of the Moran-6 well and establish a forward program for NW Moran-1.
NW Moran-1 is an exploration well in PPL219, designed to test the NW Moran Prospect, which lies on the same trend as the producing Moran field. The well is located four kilometres northwest of the nearest Moran well, Moran-6.
Participants in the well include Chevron Niugini (operator) 25%, Oil Search 47.52%, Ampolex (Highlands)18.73% and Merlin Petroleum 8.75%.
