Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasey claims that their allotted budget does not reflect the wealth that the state brings to the rest of the country.
The minister wants a flat, fixed rate to be paid to the state coffers of Rs. 126 despite the fact that production cost to produce the gas is Rs. 22. He does mention, in an interview with the BBC, that provisions were made in the Pakistan constitution that gas facilities should be provided people who live in a gas rich area but the Central government has yet to implement this article of the constitution and Maulana Wasey believes that his state was being taken advantage of.
Maulana Wasey is of the opinion that budget allotment should take into account the revenue, area and backwardness of a state. Right now, a large proportion of the Pakistan national budget goes towards Punjab state.
