SPP sets new oil production record

Controversial shale oil producer Southern Pacific Petroleum said it has set a new oil production record of 133,000 barrels (bbls) in 74 days between December and February.

SPP said since production operations began, the plant has processed approximately 1,160,000 tonnes of shale and produced 702,000 barrels of oil during 310 days of shale processing operations.

A cargo of 40,000 barrels ultra-low sulphur naptha, representing the entire inventory of ULSN, will be shipped to Mobil Australia Oil in early March.

The Gladstone plant is now entering a planned three-week shutdown to target a number of plant reliability improvements, according to SPP managing director, James McFarland.
