The operator of the Nockatunga asset, Santos, has indicated that planning is also advanced for drilling of the Thungo-8 oil development well, which will target undrained oil reserves in the Thungo field.

Thungo-8 will be immediately followed by the Callisto 1 exploration well located in the northern portion of ATP 267 P and will target both Jurassic oil and Permian gas potential.

Additional oil development wells on both the Thungo and Maxwell fields are also being considered for 2004.

Activity in Magellan's other Cooper Basin acreage is also set to commence, with the Semaphore 1 exploration well, located in PEL 110, expected to spud next week.

Semaphore 1 is targeting the Jurassic Hutton Sandstone and Poolowanna Formation together with the Triassic Tinchoo Formation. Semaphore 1 will be followed by the Waitpinga 1 (PEL 94) and Seacliff 1 (PEL 95) wells. Beach Petroleum is operator of PEL 110, PEL 94 and PEL 95.

Waitpinga 1 will target the oil potential of the Permian Patchawarra Formation, Early Cretaceous Namur Sandstone and Jurassic Hutton Sandstone in a location some 90km south of the Moomba Facility.

The Seacliff 1 well, (located in PEL 95), is targeting the oil potential of the Early Cretaceous Murta Formation and Namur Sandstone at a location some 30km to the south west of Magellan's Aldinga discovery, which continues producing oil on production test at about 50bopd.
