Tap said in an announcement that wireline operations were completed over the weekend and a cement plug was set towards the base of the oil reservoir to rectify excess water influx from a fractured cement bond in the original well completion.
The company said initial indications were that the excess water influx had been rectified. However, the well is being monitored over the forthcoming week to confirm that the plug does not leak.
The South Plato-1 well is located in TL/6, 2.1 kilometres south of Varanus Island.
