Duram Products Australia, a member of Australian Industry & Defence Network, says the new smoke hood is an effective first line of self preservation and rescue in hazardous areas created by fire and smoke, effectively filtering toxic gases such as CO (Carbon Monoxide), HCN, HCI and Acrolein. It also filters out chemical residues.
The gas mask is compact and vacuum sealed (14cm/12cm/10cm), has a five year shelf life and a clear visor which gives a large panoramic view and withstands temperatures of 150 degrees Celsius.
The gas mask has achieved the European Standard EN403 - "filtering respiratory protective devices with hood for self rescue from fire". It also has passed the Flammability Standard Test.
One of Duram's other popular masks - chemical gas mask DM43C/300V (Australian/New Zealand Standard 1716/1994) - has recently been modified with the addition of a clear visor with the latest in copolymer technology consisting of polytetrafluroethylene and ethylene monomer.
The characteristics of the new visor are: high tensile strength at break; high resistance to tear propagation, high degree of transparency, excellent resistance to solvents and chemicals.
