Last week, Eromanga said the well encountered oil shows in the basement of the well with an interval of 111m before running logs.
According to Eromanga, its local partner Gavea has formally notified the Brazilian oil regulator ANP that the well is a discovery.
Nord-1 SE is the second well in a two-well joint venture program in the Sergipe Alagoas Basin. The first well, on Block 330, was completed as a future producer after encountering oil shows.
Eromanga chief executive Phil Galloway said the success in Block 430 is pleasing.
"It follows on from the announcement last week that the joint venture has identified a second prospect on this same block," he said.
Following the two-well program, Eromanga expects to drill up to three wells in the Reconcavo Basin as part of its joint venture with Silver Marlin.
Eromanga holds a 40% stake in Block 430.
