Basker Manta resumes normal operations

THE Basker Manta joint venture has resumed normal operations at its offshore Gippsland Basin project after completing repairs to the Basker Spirit oil tanker's mooring chain earlier this week.

Basker Manta resumes normal operations

This ends a four-month production curtailment following the dislodgement of a shackle pin and mooring chain failure on July 5.

"The mooring has been successfully tested and oil is now being transferred directly from the FPSO Crystal Ocean as per normal operations," project operator Anzon Australia said this morning.

"Full oil production rates are being established over this week."

Over the past four month, operations at Basker Manta continued using alternative shuttling of the Crystal Ocean to the coast and ship-to-ship transfer of oil to the Basker Spirit.

"This safe modus operandi has kept rates at about an average of 3100 barrels of oil per day during this period," Anzon said.

The participants in the Basker-Manta Joint Venture are: Anzon Australia 40%, Beach Petroleum 40% and CIECO Exploration and Production (Australia) 20%.
