Stuart, Cooper to start Worrior development drilling

WORRIOR partners Stuart Petroleum and Cooper Energy will spud the Worrior-5 development well at the Cooper Basin oil field on or about next Wednesday, August 8, operator Stuart said this morning.

Worrior-5, a follow-up to worrior-4 drilled in March last year, will be drilled about 200m north of Worrior-2. The primary targets are in the McKinlay Member of the Murta Formation and in the Birkhead Formation. The Pando Formation is a secondary target.

Stuart said a review of production performance at Worrior-4 and a depth structure re-map of the Worrior field in 2007 have boosted P1 (proven) reserves to 3.6 million barrels and P2 (proven plus probable) to 4.4MMbbl.

“Worrior-5 will provide an additional drainage point for the currently lightly produced reserves in the McKinlay reservoir in the north of the field and will also address the potential for additional reserves through a possible attic oil accumulation in the Birkhead Formation,” Stuart said.

“Evaluation of the Pando Formation provides potential for additional reserves.”

Worrior is in PPL 207, which has been excised from PEL 93. Interests in this area are: Stuart 70% and Cooper Energy 30%.

Meanwhile, Stuart's 100%-owned Doriemus-1 well, which is targeting P3 reserves of over 2.5MMbbl of oil and 32Bcf of gas in PEL 102, was drilling ahead at 875m at 6am this morning, South Australian time.
