In a reserves update, the company has halved its expected share of proved (1P) Enfield oil reserves, from 57.9 million barrels to 27.1 MMbbl. Its share of proved and probable (2P) were downgraded from 76.6 MMbbl to 44.1 MMbbl.
Located off the North West Cape in Western Australia’s production licence WA-28-L, Enfield was discovered by Woodside in 1999.
Woodside also released a reserves update for its Chinguetti oil project, offshore Mauritania, which involved a further downgrade.
The company first warned of a major drop three months ago, when it released an interim report estimating 2P reserves would be just 53 million barrels of oil, compared to a previous estimate of 123.1MMbbl.
Now Woodside assesses Chinguetti’s 2P reserves at just over 44.73MMbbl with the company’s share being 21.3MMbbl.
