Griffin field back online: BHPB

BHP Billiton has now reconnected its Griffin oil and gas production vessel in north-western Australia, which has been offline for more than a fortnight due to cyclone activity in the region.

Production will start once safety checks are finished, the company said.

Griffin, which produces about 10,600 barrels of oil equivalent a day, has been shut since March 25 when tropical cyclone Glenda approached.

It was unable to reconnect after Glenda due to bad weather, and the production vessel had to be moved out of the path of last week’s cyclone Hubert.

Rough seas had delayed reconnection until yesterday, BHPB said.
