Bright prospects for Sunshine’s Cooper/Eromanga block

SUNSHINE Gas says its newly awarded ATP 789P permit in the Cooper/Eromanga Basin, Queensland, which is adjacent to several existing oil fields, is highly prospective.

Bright prospects for Sunshine’s Cooper/Eromanga block

“ATP 789P is surrounded by oil fields, including Kenmore and Bodalla to the west, Utopia to the south and Bargie to the east,” said managing director Tony Gilby.

“This indicates that an active hydrocarbon system is present in the area. Using modern-day seismic reprocessing and acquisition techniques, it is likely that several oil prospects will emerge from our initial exploration program and provide near term- drilling opportunities.”

The Ballera to Wallumbilla gas pipeline passes 5km south of the permit boundary and IOR Energy’s Eromanga oil refinery, just 25km west of the permit, could provide a low-cost transportation option to market any oil discovery made in ATP 789P, Gilby said.
