DRILLING started last weekend on Jingemia-9, an onshore Perth Basin oil appraisal well intended to uncover new structural and stratigraphic information to help define the extent of the Jingemia Field.

The information from the new well will be used in unitisation discussions between the L2 and L14 projects for future development of the Jingemia Field.

Operator Arc Energy and joint partner in the L2 license, Origin Energy Limited, said yesterday at 6am (WST) that the operation was drilling at a depth of 1064 metres.

Arc said the Century 11 drilling rig was expected to take 11 days to reach the target depth of 2795 metres and the top of the Dongara Sandstone.

Jingemia-9 is a sidetrack of Jingemia-7, which has the same surface location, but is suspended at 560 metres inside the 216mm (9 5/8”) surface casing.

Arc Energy and Origin Energy Developments Pty Ltd – a wholly owned subsidiary of Origin Energy Ltd – each share 50 per cent of the L1 and L2 Jingemia 9 project, which excludes the Dongara, Mondarra and Yardarino fields.
