Located in permit TL/6, the well was drilled from the Harriet Alpha Platform. The objective lies about 4.6 kilometres north-east of the platform.
North Alkimos-2H reached its deviated total depth of 6,463 metres, intersecting the Flag Sandstone reservoir as planned. It is now undergoing a clean up period and Tap said it expected a stabilised flow rate would soon be achieved.
A six metre gas cap over a 6.5m oil column was discovered at the North Alkimos field during drilling of the exploratory North Alkimos-1.
Tap has said gas cap production at 2H could last 8-12 weeks with subsequent oil flow likely to increase to a maximum of about 2000 bopd, leading to a roughly one million barrel output during the well's estimated seven-year production life.
The drilling rig has now been moved off the Harriet Alpha Platform and has been mobilised to the Victoria Platform to prepare for the drilling of the exploration wells Mohave-1 and Stuart-1.
