Empire commissions Rough Range-1B oil well

PERTH-based junior, Empire Oil & Gas, says it commissioned the Rough Range-1B oil well yesterday, pumping oil at an initial rate of 522 barrels of oil per day. The first load out of about 500 barrels of oil to the BP Kwinana Refinery is planned later in the week.

Commissioning will continue over the week including the commissioning of the heating component of the production facility’s oil storage tanks designed to maintain the oil at above its pour point, the company said.

“The company is very pleased with the performance of the installed beam pump and the production facility including the monitoring equipment, all the safety features installed and the procedures being carried out at the Rough Range oilfield,” it said.

“The company plans to produce the field at a stabilised rate of 250 barrels of oil per day to enable the trucking of oil continuously to the BP Kwinana Refinery.”
