The tour will encompass labs and facilities across WAERA’s three alliance partners – CSIRO, Curtin University of Technology and The University of Western Australia.
Visitors will review research across geology, geochemistry, petrology, hydrogeology, rock physics, geomechanics, reservoir engineering, corrosion, marine & science technology, nanochemistry and robotics.
Demonstrations and interactive models will explain cutting edge research, with scientists on hand to speak one-on-one with visitors, said WAERA’s acting CEO Robert Johnson.
“This is a perfect opportunity for delegates to the APPEA conference and exhibition and other interested people to be shown a snapshot of the step change research that is taking place here in Western Australia,” Johnson said.
“The people involved in this alliance are at the top of their field and the research they are undertaking today will be used to maximise the industry’s sustainability tomorrow.”
Headquartered at the Australian Resources Research Centre (ARRC) in Perth’s Technology Park, the organisation is Australia’s principal energy research centre with an existing capability of 250 specialists.
A $20 million major research facilities grant from the state government and a research alliance with Woodside and a memorandum of understanding with ChevronTexaco have supported WAERA’s vision to become one of the world’s leading energy research centres.
