Iraq supplies to Jordan recommence

Despite an increasingly organised resistance campaign Iraq has managed to redeveloped its oil industry to the stage that the first oil exports since the end of the war have arrived in Jordan's Red Sea port of Aqaba.

The one million barrel delivery is part of a 2.6 million barrel $US70 million agreement with Jordan.

Prior to the US led war on Saddam Hussein's regime Jordan sourced all its oil from Iraq, importing 5.5 million tonnes annually by road, half of it free and the other half at a preferential price. The new shipments were bought at the world market price and not preferential rates.
