Colombian pipeline 'only' bombed 33 times this year

Occidental Petroleum's Cano Limon oil pipeline in northeast Columbia has been attacked for the 33...

The pipeline stopped pumping its usual 110,000 barrels of oil per day on Wednesday of last week, after suspected leftist rebels bombed the pipeline in a remote area.

Ecopetrol, state oil company, said the bomb should not affect exports since there was enough oil in storage at the port of Covenas on the Caribbean coast to meet deliveries.

The United States is expected to send special forces to Columbia in January to help train Columbian troops to protect Cano Limon from rebel attacks.
