The nonsense of a BHP-Woodside merger: Comment

IN recent days we've seen unsourced rumours that BHP Billiton might be considering a tilt at Woodside Petroleum – rampant speculation at a time when the oil patch is aflutter with acquisition activity, spurred on by jittery producers worried about falling oil and gas prices and shrinking exploration budgets, all of which are worried about where the growth of tomorrow is coming from.
