Deepwater Horizon spill bill tops $29B

THE US Department of Justice has secured a historic resolution of its claims against BP for the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster totalling $US20.8 billion ($A29.37 billion) – the largest in the country's history and, gratefully for the besieged oiler, ends the economic damage associated with claims from regional authorities once and for all.
