Noble sheds 10% of US workforce

WOODSIDE Petroleum's could-have-been partner Noble Energy is cutting 220 jobs, close to 10% of it...

A Noble spokesman revealed that about 100 jobs will go from Colorado (including 80 from Denver and 20 from Greeley), and another 100 will be cut in Houston. There will also be job losses in Pennsylvania.

The spokesman said some jobs will be transferred.

Current business and commodity price environments were blamed for the restructuring.

Noble's largest exploration discovery in its history is the deepwater Leviathan gas field in offshore Israel which hosts 19 trillion cubic feet of gross natural gas mean resources.

Woodside terminated a memorandum of understanding agreement to enter the Leviathan joint venture almost a year ago after 18 months of talks.

The project has been dogged by various setbacks ever since.
