The company said Alejandro Gonzalez and Tomas Romo were evacuated from the site after emergency response units rendered aid but the men later died in hospital.

Maverick did not comment on the location of the drilling site or the nature of the accident but Houston news source khou.com reported that two men were electrocuted when a construction vehicle hit nearby electrical lines at a site in Houston.

Maverick says it is cooperating with regulatory agencies and is conducting its own investigation into the incident.
