ConTrainer is a stand-alone learning system that features content on a small computer system.

The technology was created to meet demand from oil and gas companies wanting to train staff working in remote locations without internet connection.

Each system is created with an onsite version of the Oilennium database, interactive modules and learners' user details.

The modules to be completed through the program fall into four broad categories including Introduction to Oil and Gas; Health Safety, Environment & Quality; Technical Courses; and Leadership and Management.

The database installed through the system works the same as the internet-based system by recording learning results and feeding them back to a master database for the training manager.

Petrofac announced the launch of the eLearning system as part of its recent acquisition of e-learning specialist Oilennium earlier this year.

The course was launched at a time when the industry was thriving and constantly in need of professionals.

It can offer employers a cost-effective way of training staff.

With this development, it will have an even broader reach.
