On May 18, 2006, Woodside advised that Australian Greens Senator Christine Milne had asked the AFP to investigate Woodside in relation to allegations of bribery by the company of a Mauritanian official.
The AFP has said its inquiry is now complete.
In 2005, Woodside chief executive Don Voelte told the APPEA Conference that the company had joined the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, an international protocol aimed at increasing transparency in transactions between governments and companies in extractive industries in order to limit the potential for corruption.
Woodside sold all its Mauritanian assets last year.
