Texas roundup

Golden Gate

Dunn McCampbell-11A, the second well in Golden Gate's Manzano Shallow project on Padre Island latest hole, hints at possible significant upside to the primary objective Marg Tex reservoir, the company said yesterday.

Data from wireline logs run within the Marg Tex reservoir in Dunn McCampbell-11A showed the well had encountered 10-12 feet of net pay.

The company said seismic interpretation and correlation with other wells in the area suggest the reservoir may be part of a large accumulation covering an area of up to 1000 acres.

Well completion is underway and a testing program is being developed.

Golden Gate added it plans to move a service rig to carry out remedial work on the first Manzano Shallow well after water production increased to more than 300 barrels per day, reducing gas flow to about 600,000 cubic feet per day.

The well, ST999-1, was brought into production at a rate of more than 3.1 million cubic feet of gas per day.

"With the addition of DM-11A, the company will have 10 producing wells that are generating strong production volumes for the company at a time when US gas prices are over $US10 [per] million cubic feet," Golden Gate said in a statement.

Golden Gate has a 35% stake in Dunn McCampbell-11A, while fellow Australian company Modena Resources holds 12.5%.

Exoma Energy

Also in Texas, Exoma Energy said production testing of its Kelln 94-2 step-out well in the Anadarko Basin, Texas, is continuing with daily flow rates averaging 900Mcf with richer than expected condensate output that varies from day to day.

Well operator Mewbourne Oil Company is continuing laboratory analysis while production continues to be sold into the pipeline.

Exoma holds an 18.92% stake in Kelln 94-2.

The company is also drilling Glory Road-1 in Hardin County, which targets 5.88 billion cubic feet of gas and 292,000 barrels of oil in the Yegua formation.

The well (Exoma 33%), is expected to reach its proposed total depth of 13,000 feet within the next 10-12 days.

Exoma is also expecting to spud High Promise-1, also in Hardin County, on April 28.

High Promise-1, in which Exoma has an 18% stake, has a planned total depth of 2800 feet and targets a 960,000bbl prospect in the Miocene Formation.

Amadeus Energy

Meanwhile, Amadeus Energy said it expects its Waterhole Creek-1 gas wildcat to spud in the first part of next week as arrival of the drilling rig at the well site in Lavaca County was delayed.

The company has a 35.0625% stake in Waterhole Creek-1.

In Louisiana, Amadeus is also carrying out workover operations to prepare the Mann-1 well for the drilling rig, which is due to move onto location in about three weeks.

The sidetrack would be drilled to a depth of 13,800 feet to test the Amph A and upper and lower Robulus L sands.

And in Kansas, the company has had to plug and abandon the Rexroat-3 development well in the Trapp field after logging indicated there was no oil-bearing zone.

Amadeus has a 20.3125% stake in Mann-1 and an 85% interest in Rexroat-3.
