Headquartered in Perth, RCR also has large sites in Brisbane, Newcastle, Bunbury, Karratha and Geraldton, with workshops and other facilities located throughout Australia and in New Zealand.

Candeland told PetroleumNews.net that while the company's main business was in the mining industry, it was making "ever increasing inroads" into the upstream and downstream petroleum sector.

Candeland said RCR Tomlinson was recently contracted by Woodside Petroleum to undertake construction and maintenance operations on the North West Shelf project's Train 5.

Also in Western Australia, the company worked on Burrup Fertiliser’s giant ammonia plant, which started production last year.

As a result of two business acquisitions - Newcastle's Stelform and New Zealand's Easteel - in the past two-and-a-half years, the company now has in-house capabilities in the pipe spooling, boiler, pressure parts, valve retrofit, energy systems and heat treatment areas.

"We've got superb facilities for the building of vessels and columns and towers... and excellent heat treatment facilities for pipe installations in-house and on site," he said.

"We also have a very vibrant energy systems section, where we'll build stand alone power plants up to 250 megawatts and boilers up to 400 megawatts."
