The discovery well High Island 24L (N/2 SW/4)-1 was drilled in October last year and penetrated over 76m of pay.

A follow-up well, High Island 24L (S/2 SW/4)-1 encountered strong hydrocarbon shows over a 146.3m gross sand interval and about 61m of net pay. This is currently being drilled and completed and will be tied into the production facilities, according to Entek.

The joint venture now plans to run a 5 1/2-inch liner and production tubing before perforating the gas interval. The well will then be flow-tested for cleanup before being suspended.

Entek has a 5% working interest in the project area. The operator is US-based Walter Oil & Gas. Entek and its partners have also acquired three offshore blocks contiguous to the discovery block.
