The new Zero-D diesel-free liquid gel concentrate is a new high performance concentrate that can be used in hydraulic fracturing to replace the old diesel-based, environmentally polluting solutions, according to Halliburton.
"We're taking a dramatic and proactive approach by providing operators with fluids systems made from diesel-free liquid gel concentrates," said Halliburton Energy Services Group Production Optimization Division vice president Jim Prestidge.
"Our new Zero-D systems will offer a more environmentally attractive alternative to the current systems available in the market, both in the formation and on the surface."
The Zero-D formulation is designed to work with Halliburton's fracturing fluid systems such as SilverStim, Delta Frac, DeepQuest and SeaQuest fluids.
It can be used in a broad range of depths and temperatures, and has demonstrated equivalent if not better performance than standard formulations during field trials, according to Halliburton.
