Yokogawa has almost two decades of history with the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, beginning with a global procurement agreement between the two companies in 1986.
Teruyoshi Minaki, director and executive vice president of Yokogawa’s International Business Headquarters, said Yokogawa had provided Shell with over 200 process control systems since 1985, citing product reliability, advanced technology, efficient delivery and engineering support as key factors in the repeat business.
Under the current agreement, Yokogawa will supply SDM with all of its process control solutions including the CENTUM CS 3000 production control system, the ProSafe safety instrumented system, field instruments, and engineering/site services.
“Yokogawa has provided Shell highly reliable process control systems for the past twenty years and is helping us with our value improvement programs,” said SDM’s general manager of contracting and procurement, Lee Newick.
Yokogawa said it saw the current supply agreement as an opportunity to proactively promote its industrial automation business to the wider energy industry.
