The project, which involves acquiring over 6,000km of long offset 2D data, will bring the total amount of 2D that Multiwave will have acquired during this – its first Egyptian campaign – to over 12,000km.
With most of its seismic activity offshore Egypt conducted in 3D, BP decided it needed a comprehensive 2D survey to further enhance its understanding of regional tectonics. The deepwater survey will deliver critical information and form the basis for key decisions within the area.
Multiwave was selected for its experience in the region, its strong track record, and its history of having worked successfully with BP on other projects worldwide. Multiwave also had a vessel currently in Mediterranean waters, enabling it to respond rapidly to BP’s needs.
Equipped with an 8,000m streamer, Multiwave rigged the vessel C-Orion specifically for the survey.
Multiwave Geophysical is a Norwegian upstream services company specializing in 2D and 3D marine seismic acquisition. Its towed streamer systems plus four component seabed systems are designed not only for conventional bottom-cable acquisition but also for permanent installation over fields for continuous seismic monitoring.
