According to the manufacturer, Automotive Wheel Bearing Grease is a premium, high-temperature, red grease specifically formulated to handle the rigours of both disc and drum bearing applications.
“The new multi-application grease will meet the demands of everyday city commuting as well as weekend off-highway conditions,” Timken said.
It contained corrosion inhibitors, and anti-wear and water-resistant additives said to provide superior protection in all environments, making it ideal for light-to-medium-duty industrial, construction and agricultural bearing applications.
“The Timken Company has been a world leader in tribology – the study of friction lubrication and interacting surfaces – for more than 70 years,” a Timken spokesperson said.
“The company developed the world's first lubricant test machinery and extreme pressure testing processes which became industry standard and widely known as the Timken OK Load.”
The spokesperson said Timken had coordinated with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and the National Lubrication Grease Institute (NLGI) to develop symbols which denoted products meeting the highest performance levels.
“The Timken premium automotive wheel bearing grease meets the performance criteria for both chassis grease and wheel bearing grease category,” the spokesperson said.
