“This is a thoroughly deserving recognition of many years of outstanding service to the Australian pipeline industry and the Australian Pipeline Industry Association,” said APIA’s president, Mark Twycross.
Lukas graduated in civil engineering from the University of New South Wales in 1967 and has 32 years experience in the high pressure pipeline industry, as well as other specialist civil engineering activities.
He has played a key role in horizontal directional drilling in Australia and a number of world records have been set for major river crossings and coal bed methane drainage.
Lukas joined what was then the Australian Pipeline Contractor’s Association in 1982 and over the past 22 years has taken an active role in matters affecting the progress of the group.
It was through Lukas’ efforts that the Association grew with increased membership and financial strength which was ital to the continued existence and growth of the Association.
Lukas is a past president of the Australian Pipeline Industry Association and remains a member of the board of directors. He is also a member of the board of Australia’s Co-Operative Research Centre for Mining.
