State energy utility Energex has dedicated $60.5 million to capital works on the Sunshine Coast during the 2004-05 financial year.
"$50.2 million will be invested in capital works to improve capacity and reliability of the network," said premier Beattie.
"A further $10.3 million will be spent on operational maintenance such as vegetation management, inspections, street lighting, and emergency responses."
"It will also ensure Energex has in place the necessary equipment to help cope with any extreme super peak demand during the 2004-05 summer period," said the Premier.
Projects under the maintenance program include $1.3 million to replace the existing high voltage powerline water crossing between Teewah and Cooloola Point in the Tin Can Bay inlet and $3.83 million project to establish a new 132/11kV substation at Tanawha.
