Name change for WA Dept. Environmental Protection

Western Australias Department for Environmental Protection has changed its name to the Department...

It is the result of amalgamation of the former DEP with the Water and Rivers Commission as a single legal entity.

“Throughout the amalgamation of the two agencies over the past few years, many people have been working behind the scenes laying the foundations for this merger,” said CEO Derek Carew-Hopkins.

Under the new name, the agency would continue to provide services to the Swan River Trust, the Waste Management Board, the Environmental Protection Authority, the Keep Australia Beautiful Council and the Office of Water Policy.
