WA retailer joins fuel subsidy war

WA-based Foodlands Associated (FAL) has launched its own fuel discount scheme to tackle the successful campaigns by retail giants Woolworths and Coles Myer, who have linked with Caltex and Shell respectively.

WA retailer joins fuel subsidy war

Foodlands will roll out a discount partnership between its newly purchased Mobil outlets and its franchised Dewsons and Supa Valu stores, offering customers a 4 cent per litre discount.

However, unlike the Woolworths and Coles deals where customers are required to spend $30 to take advantage of the deal FAL has set a $25 spending limit, undercutting its larger competitors.

FAL was forced into the move to counter the success of the Caltex/Shell deal which could see FAL lose some of its market share to the national outfits despite the launch of a promising customer loyalty program seven months ago.
