According to Issa, “The project will cost US$8 million, with the Kuwait investing US$6 million and Iraq US$2 million dollars for the construction of the necessary facilities and pipelines.”
“The first phase of the construction is due in October next year, and its second phase envisages the importation of 4.67 million cubic metres of gas every day. The final daily capacity of the gas project is expected to reach 11.32 million cubic metres,” added the official.
Issa also confirmed the postponement of discussion on exporting Kuwaiti crude to Iraq via Kuwaiti ports due to current tensions in Iraq. A discussion on common oil fields along the borders of both countries has also been put aside until the security and political situation in Iraq stabilises.
