Iraq: Fire did not affect oil exports

According to Ibrahim, “Crude oil exports from Iraq’s southern Basra oil terminal were not affected by [the fires] that hit two pipelines there.”

“[In fact, the] recent fire that erupted in pipelines has not affected oil exports from the south,” he added. The minister, however, did not reveal the cause of the fires.

Iraqi oil officials have also revealed that the two pipelines, around 75 km south of Basra, were disused and had no part in the flow of oil along the pipeline. The country currently produces around 2.2 million barrels per day of oil.
