Halliburtons final recourse on the US$98 million US$101 million judgement, the US Supreme Court,...

Halliburton had been accused of patent infringement of an oil and gas extracting technique developed by Houston-based BJ Services Co. The Supreme Court was the final court of appeal for US Vice President Dick Cheney’s former company.

In a statement, BJ Services confirmed the ruling from the Supreme Court. “No further appeals are available to Halliburton,” said BJ Services.

According to a Halliburton spokesperson, the result will not affect the company’s financial performance this year. “The full amount of the damages, interest and costs was accrued by the company in the first quarter of 2002 and will have no impact on 2004 financial results,” said the spokesperson.
