The package now provides Amerada with a reliable and secure communications network between its offices in Aberdeen and Houston to its facilities in West Africa.
The Schlumberger global connectivity solution that Amerada has procured will allow it to have voice, fax and data communications where local IT infrastructure is not available … in this case, West Africa.
Under the terms of the deal, SIS has established real-time remote communications – via its very small aperture terminal satellite technology – between the Amerada Hess Houston and Aberdeen offices with a global Secure Private Network (SPN), which allows for secure and reliable connections between the two corporate offices and their network of offshore oil rigs and land offices.
According to Schlumberger vice president (connectivity services) Jean-Michel Rouylou, “With the implementation of stabilized systems designed for marine or remote use as well as fixed, land-based connectivity, Amerada Hess can now communicate in real-time with all its offices in West Africa and other locations.” No details on were provided in the press release on the value of the contract.
