The Fair is part of UWA's participation in the Greenhouse Challenge Program run by the Australian Greenhouse Office, which seeks to encourage the use of energy efficient technologies in industry and business.
The Fair will be held at the UWA Oak Lawn with entry via Hackett Entry No. 1. Attendees will get to learn all they need to know about wind & solar power, grey water recycling, permaculture and energy efficient housing through seminars that will be on the whole day.
Fun activities are promised for the young ones and there promises to be entertainment and food aplenty, which even includes picnics on the UWA's grounds.
UWA is well suited to hold the Perth Sun Fair because, via its Office of Facilities Management, the university has implemented and explored energy efficiency and renewable technologies through practical applications on campus.
This has been done through the use of Energy efficient lighting, air conditioning and heat storage systems; as well the use of a cogeneration plant, solar power and waste recycling and reduction programs.
