Algeria's oil workers revolt, Venezuelan style

Yet another developing country's oil exports have been crippled as 90% of Algeria's oil export wo...

The stoppage has led to the closure of oil refineries and has shut the country's principal oil export terminal, Skikda. Oil and gas makes up more than 90 percent of Algeria's total export earnings.

The union responsible, UGTA, called for the stoppage to protest against the government's reform agenda, which is feared will lead to widespread retrenchments.
