SA Country Fire Service chief executive officer Vince Monterola said the equipment would be distributed for use by CFS volunteers across the State, and would be particularly useful in mapping large bushfires.
"The application of this equipment during large bushfires will provide vital fireground intelligence that will greatly enhance the ability of fire commanders to plan their attack."
Origin Energy's General Manager Public & Government Affairs Tony Wood said, "As operational readiness is the best way to contain this type of disaster, Origin decided to deal directly with the Country Fire Service to provide much needed technology to assist their long-term needs.
"For the SA CFS, the main priority was the purchase of GIS mapping equipment to upgrade their fire boundary information as well as the ability to transmit this data to volunteers in the field.
