Jordan plant switches to natural gas

The national Aqaba thermal power plant in Jordan will soon switch to using natural gas to fuel it...

The construction of the US$1 billion Al Arish-Aqaba pipeline, from offshore Egypt to Jordan, has helped facilitate the process. The Aqaba plant is expected to be commissioned at the end of March or in the first few weeks of April.

Aqaba currently produces around 43% of Jordan’s total electricity generating capabilities, roughly around 650 mW.
