Greenpeace-Maori bid thrown out

THE New Zealand High Court has thrown out a Greenpeace and Maori bid for a judicial review of the government's decision to award Brazilian giant Petrobras an exploration lease in the deepwater Raukumara Basin off the East Coast.

Justice Warwick Gendall has also ordered Greenpeace and East Coast iwi Te Whanau-a-Apanui to pay the legal costs of the Minister of Energy and Resources and those of Petrobras incurred in defending the...
