Co-venturer Great Artesian Oil & Gas told the market this morning that the drill stem test, run at a depth of 2137-2149m, was examining a 6m-thick sand that had exhibited hydrocarbon fluorescence and elevated gas readings during drilling.
During the test period, the company said there was no flow to surface, but 8 barrels of 51-degree API oil and 75 barrels of water were recovered from the drill string following the test.
The joint venture is planning to continue drilling Murrippi-1 ahead to a total depth of 2241m.
Murrippi-1 is the second of two wells being drilled by the Beach-led joint venture to test prospects in the ‘oil fairway' between the Christies, Sellicks, Callawonga and Parsons oil discoveries in PEL 92 to the southwest, and the Growler and Wirraway oil discoveries in PEL 104 to the northwest.
The first well, Ballapurudda-1, was drilled in December 2007.
