Greymouth chief operating officer John Sturgess told PetroleumNews.net today that Greymouth’s Bonus Drilling Rig 2 had completed Surrey-2 as an oil producer. He declined to comment on flow rates.
Earlier this decade, Surrey flowed commercial quantities of gas for about two years.
The discovery Surrey-1 well initially flowed about 100 barrels of oil per day from shallow Miocene-aged Mount Messenger sandstones and, four years later, it is still producing about 50-60bpd of crude.
Bonus Drilling Rig 2 recently moved to Greymouth’s more northern Kaimiro field, where it has completed a workover on the Kaimiro-9 well and was about to start similar work on Kaimiro-5.
Kaimiro is primarily a gas-condensate field but also has an oil leg.
