The scope of work includes the engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction of two 180,000 cubic metre full containment LNG tanks, four condensate tanks and the associated piping, electrical, instrumentation and civil works.
"This award, our fourth major LNG project in Australia in the past few years, demonstrates our technical expertise and proven experience in the LNG industry and capitalises on CB&I's 75-year history in Australia," CB&I chief executive officer Philip Asherman said.
Work is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2013.
The $43 billion Gorgon project consists of a three-train LNG development on Barrow Island capable of producing 15 million tonnes per annum as well as a 300 terajoule per day domestic gas plant and pipeline to the mainland.
It will include a carbon dioxide sequestration project aimed at storing the high CO2 levels present in Gorgon gas in deep formations beneath Barrow Island.
Australia's largest LNG project has a resource life of more than 40 trillion cubic feet of gas and an estimated economic life of at least 40 years.
First LNG is due in 2014 and domestic gas is planned by the end of 2015.
